Default An AQ hand vs a TAG

42/23 for 38 hands opens with a raise UTG 6-handed, 27/17/2/42/53 TAG who multitables and seem ok 3bets, folded to my BB with AQ, I call, opener calls aswell.

Flop 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], I have Ac.

I check, opener checks, TAG bets, I call ?, opener folds.

Turn 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

I check-call

River 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

I bet..

What was your plan for this hand? I think unimproved AQ is easily behind the TAG's 3-betting range. Maybe he has AJ or KQ but I doubt he's 3-betting much below that. Your line is kinda weird too. I'm not sure what you're representing by calling all the way down and then betting the river. If he has an overpair I can't see him ever folding for 1 river bet. I think he looks you up way too often. I could see an argument for folding preflop here. I probably fold the turn if I'm around, even with outs to a split with another ace.

Folding the turn would be bad.

Board: 8c 6c 4s 6s
Dead:

equity (%) win (%) tie (%)
Hand 1: 45.0549 % 39.34% 05.71% { AcQd }
Hand 2: 54.9451 % 49.23% 05.71% { 77+, ATs+, KJs+, AJo+, KQo }

Even if he only bets KQ/KJ when he has a flush draw hero's equity is still 20%.

Yeah, if you're going to make a play at the pot this line is way better. That river bet is too easy to call, vs. the c/r flop+turn lead which also threatens a river bet also.

Actually I forgot about UTG behind us when evaluating this. This is sort of spewing with him in there.

I like the way Trix played this now except I think he should check/fold the river.

my reasoning for checkraising the flop was precisely because there is a player behind us. i wouldnt do this heads up.

Yeah I didn't mean I would do it HU, I just forgot about him when evaluating equity. HU we'd have 45% equity but with UTG in there too we are not looking so hot, especially when he is likely to play aggressively.

Board: 8c 6c 4s

equity (%) win (%) tie (%)
Hand 1: 29.6076 % 25.86% 03.75% { AcQd }

Hand 3: 28.2014 % 26.72% 01.48% { 55+, A2s+, K9s+, Q9s+, J9s+, T9s, A9o+, KTo+, QTo+, JTo }

well the checkraise allows us generate folding equity by making the opener fold better hands when facing the checkraise. i think its better than calling the flop with the intention of making it to the showdown. by checkraising the flop youre paying 2 bets to find out where youre at whereas checkcalling down costs 2.5. if you checkraise the flop and the EP player calls 2 you check the turn.
