Default PokerPlex this weekend: Win a PEN!

Just got an email from PokerPlex, their "weekend challenge" this weekend will net the player with the most hands played (drumroll please) a PEN!

Okay, it's a fancy Montblanc fountain pen, but how many of us who would consider multitabling for 48 hours straight are in need of a fancy pen? Hell, I can't remember the last time I picked up a pen in a non-work environment -- I don't suppose Montblanc makes fancy dry-erase markers to leave messages for the wife?

(I wonder how much a Montblanc fountain pen goes for on eBay...)

I saw this too and laughed. They gave away some other gift a few weekends ago. Don't remember what it was but it was for the ONE player with the most hands. What a joke!

I'll bet that ONE palyer was pretty proud though.

How'd you like to be number 2...."I'm so bummed, I went without sleep for 2 days and missed the pen by 5 raked hands."

While most people may consider an expensive pen to be a silly prize, it is still a prize, and certainly no sillier than some of the prizes B&M casinos give away.

This looks to be the start of a regular weekend competition, so one can hope that the prizes will get more interesting.

Additionally, Poker Plex already runs a competition for both most hands and most time online each month. In that competition they are giving away a Rolex, Camcoder, and MP3 players.

If this brings more play to the cryptos this is only a good thing for them, and its reasonable to expect that we will see more of these types of give aways in the future as the competition for players heats up between the online poker rooms.

At the end of the day, this can only be good for the players!
