Apparently the Las Vegas (Nevada?) Gaming commission has not approved the game. It has been under review before but for some reason didn't pass. That's what they told me at the Bellagio. Poeple have been playing it all this month at the Rio, but they'd let us play 1-card fifth-tuple draw roll your own indian poker if we tuaght the dealers how to deal it.

[/ QUOTE ] On any given day the Commerce Casino in Los Angeles spreads, holdem, stud, omaha 8/b, badugi, razz, triple draw (many versions), mexican poker, chinese poker (13 card poker), studugi, no limit 5 card stud (32 card deck) and pan. On big weekends they will spread more. Badugi has been around for almost three years at the higher limits.

[/ QUOTE ] How will the Rio not spread Badugi but will spread it if it's not called Badugi? I'd figure the regs say you can play this set of games, not "you can play this set of games plus any game the players want as long as it's not called x, y, or z". I don't see how they'd risk sanctions doing something not approved by the board....however they're obviously doing it, so what gives?

It is a great game. It is simply a triple draw lowball game with four cards and different suits. Higher variance. I think the link to Raymers post describes the rules.
The reason why you cannot play it at the Bellagio is because they never got the game approved by the nevada gaming commission. Supposedly they submitted it a long while back and there was something wrong or missing so it got rejected and they spread it occasionally but they are not supposed to. (When we sneak it into the game and a supervisor doesnt know about it and the dealer doesnt say anything) When I first saw the Rio was spreading Padugi I just assumed they got it approved by the gaming commission. Then everyone is calling it four card triple draw so I dont know. With regard to playing it in LA well there are really no rules or regulations in LA and you can do whatever you want. The Rio has proved to be quite similar to LA. Players run the games. Dealers dont know how to deal the games. No complaints so far though. And if you like money I'd recommend some 300600 Padugi at the Rio.
