nice to see a fellow smoky whisky drinker. Have youtried Ardbeg Ugeadail?? Very tarry and smoky especially with a dash of water. it mellows out with a little more water but still very pungent.

Get rid of the E and your life will be much better!!!

actually you would definitely enjoy whisk(e)y fest. it is a yearly tasting where they have a raucous debate on which is the better drink, whisky or whiskEy.

I like the Doublewood and think it's a great value at $30-35. If you think the Balvenie 15 is a little sweet for your taste, you probably won't be a huge fan of it, though. It's a similar style and a tad sweeter due to the finish.

See this Scotch tasting post for some more recommendations. A search on "Scotch" in OOT (and archives) will find a handful of great threads. Lots of Scotch drinkers here.

Pat,

Nice to see you posting again.

El Diablo posted about malt scotch.

I drink whiskey, however I drink Tennessee whiskey. Ala Jack Daniels. Jack Daniels has a single barrel whiskey, I enjoy only once in a while.

Top marks pat. Lagavulin 16 is the correct answer.

Anyone who says you should never take water with your whisky is blowing it outta somewhere.

It matters what kind of water. Better if it's "soft" water, ie acidic. Definitely tastes different. If you live in an area of hared water, just collect clean rain water and freeze it in an ice cube tray.
