Default Costa Mesa / Irvine Area Card Rooms

I'm headed to Costa Mesa / Irvine tomorrow for business and I might have a free night. Where is my nearest decent room and do any of you play there?

Thanks!

I'm sure that the original poster has heard of The Commerce Club. It's about 40 miles from Costa Mesa. I think he was probably asking if there was anything closer.

No card rooms in the OC. Hawaiian Gardens may be closer but likely not enough to matter much. Or you could drive south to Oceans 11 (likely the furthest for you).

I live in Irvine/Newport beach. Commerce is about 30-40 minutes from here (25 min late at night, probably 1 1/2 hours during rush hour). I asked about Hawaiian Gardens a few days ago, from the responses it sounds allright for lower limits. I think that may be a bit closer, but not much. If you do go to HG, post and let me know how it was, I'd like to head up there one of these days after work.

If you are going to play, you might as well go to commerce. HG isn't much closer and commerce has the best selection of games / limits.

Commerce is great but earlier tonight Hawaiian Gardens had three 20/40 holdem, one 40/80 holdem, and two 15/30 holdem games (although the 15/30's tend to break early). In NL they had about eight $100 fixed buys, three $300 fixed buys, and two $500 fixed buys. They had at least five 8/16 holdems. In smaller stakes they had a sea of tables - more than I could count.

Commerce is about twelve miles farther from Costa Mesa. During peak traffic it really is a big difference. The 605 south of Carson (the Hawaiian Gardens exit) is rarely crowded.

The closest card room is Hawaiian Gardens by far. Not a bad place to play, loose action, and food is great. They have a website with directions but I don't remember the url. Google it.

Good Luck,

Pepper
