Bob Ciaffione has a great book. You'll find most people here will recommend it if you go through the archives (i asked the same question at one point).
If you do a google search on his name, you should find his site (i can't remember it off hand) |

Poseidon,
'Championship No-Limit & Pot Limit Hold'Em' by T.J. Cloutier and Tom McEvoy. I payed $40 for it at Barnes&Noble here in NY. A 200 pg soft cover book but well worth the price. |

A lot of people here, including myself, don't rate the Cloutier/McEvoy book.
The Ciaffone Reuben book ("Pot Limit and No Limit Poker") is excellent. The co-author Stewart Reuben has a book coming out on Pot Limit Hold'em, which I imagine will be good - see the thread onthe books forum. His beginner's book "Starting Out in Poker" has some good info on PL/NL games. Theory of Poker is great for all games. |

Re: Any good books specifically on Pot Limit and No Limit HE?
i highly recommend the Ciaffone/Reuben book over the Cloutier/McEvoy one. although Pot-Limit and No-Limit Poker has only 30 or so pages devoted solely to hold 'em, it contains much more useful information (and costs $15 less). the book also contains sections on many important big-bet poker concepts such as playing drawing hands out of position, considering how deep the money is, and much more, which the Cloutier book does not touch.
if you click on my website below and go to the poker homepage, i have a listing of reviews of all the poker books i've read. the Ciaffone/Reuben book is one of only two (along with TOP) that i rated 10 out of 10. |

I agree completely about Ciaffone and Stewarts book, however, a word of caution, It teaches aggresive play, which is good, if alligned with tight play, but a lot of experience is also needed before adopting these tactics.
As I found to my cost! Good Luck Simon I am in recovery now.... |

Re: Any good books specifically on Pot Limit and No Limit HE?
Championship Pot&Nolimit Holdem is NOT a good reading - if you want to really understand the game. It has it good points regarding tournament play, but most of the advices regarding ring-game are bad. Outright bad.
For example, T&T thinks that 54 offsuit is a better hand in no-limit holdem than 54 suited. And that they both are quite bad hands Doyle says in Super/Systems that 54 suited is the hand he wants when playing Nolimit holdem. I know who I think are wright Rest regards Ola |

Poseiden,
I read both Ciffione's "NL-PL" and Cloutier's "NL-PL" books. I found the Ciffione significantly more helpful for me. It explains the strategy well, gives situation examples. Bob Lewis |

Re: Any good books specifically on Pot Limit and No Limit HE?
I agree with everyone else: the Reuben/Ciaffone book is the way to go.
I believe Reuben has a new book coming out entitled "How good is your pot-limit hold'em?" which I for one will be buying as soon as I can. He has some very deep things to say, but, as has been discussed on this board before, some of his writing is anecdotal and not that useful, and some of his suggestions err on the aggressive side, to say the least. The HE material in the book with Ciaffone was authored by Ciaffone and is much more down to earth, and very useful. Required reading. Guy. |

I thought there were some good pieces on no limit theory in Sklansky's tournament book.
