Default irs on poker cards even up to the 1950\'s?

They used to tax playing cards, but I thought it was an old practice, to tax playing cards. Then I saw these cards from 1959, and they have the stamp on them!

Anyone know the story behind these stamps?

Found some info on these stamps:

Apparently playing cards were taxed until the 60's!
