Default Albuquerque

Just wondering, any 2+2ers that live and play here at the local casinos?

Don't live there, but enjoyed the play last Xmas. Only
one 'good' room to play at, up on Tramway.

They keep busy 2-4 to 10-20, plus O/8 4-8 and sometimes
stud. some tourneys. Generally soft games.

Enjoy.

Hey, Placitas NM here.

I just started playing a few months ago, only have played 2/4 live, and I really suck but I can say...

Sandia - The 2/4 is loose passive with at least 2 total clueless people at my table every time I've played. Usually 4-7 see the flop. I'm -$73 over 28hrs of total play. The max rake is $3 per hand. I play Saturday afternoon and the wait is usually about 30 minutes. This place is a total smoke pit but only a 15 minute drive from my house.

Rt66 Casino - Just checked out this new poker room last Sunday and was impressed. No smoking, quite, and right next to the bar. The max rake is $2 and an additional $1 for a jackpot pool for a total take of $3 per hand. My table had 3 total fish that lost their $50-$80 buyins within their first 45 minutes. Table turned totally tight after they left and I wound up down $29 after being up $120. It's a 40 minute drive from my house but unless Sandia goes no smoking I'll be playing here.

You ought to try Santa Ana. Its just as fishy as the others and I believe it should be a lot closer to you than Sandia - right? Santa Ana's room allows smoking but its not nearly as bad as Sandia. You are right about that - Sandia is a complete smoke pit. I can not believe how bad it is.

Sandia suppose to open a new poker room once their hotel is finished (think in Nov or Dec) and when they do its suppose to be non-smoking. Once that happens I will go back to playing there. I have made Rt66 my new home for now as well. Its a very nice room. Just hope its gets to be busier and its popularity increases since its only a month old.

I can not believe there is only two of us, there has to be more 2+2er's that live here in Abq.

I don't live there, but have played at Sandia many times. I consider it my favorite cardroom behind Foxwoods. The play there is so atrocious that I have never failed to make a profit on those trips, no matter how badly I run. I surely can't say that about any other cardroom! LOL.

I live in SE New Mexico, about 200 miles from Albuquerque. I get up there about once a month, and really like Sandia. Generally well run and seldom long waits for a seat. The majority of dealers are decent. My last trip there was in January, and the rake was still only $3 - there were no jackpots, though they were planning to implement one soon. The games are generally soft, but the $10/$20 game can be tough, especially if its the highest limit going and the table is full of regulars.

There is a card room at the Inn of the Mountain Gods near Ruidoso in Southern NM. They are opening a new casino and resort on the 15th, and advance word is that the facility will be awesome. Heretofore, the casino and card room have been in shabby quarters, and, IMHO, poorly run. The card room in particular suffered from poor management, so much so that I just quit going there - wasn't worth the hassles and waits. (For example, I often sat at tables with two or more empty seats for over 45 minutes with long waiting lists; and once sat for over an hour with two empty tables, 25 people on the $5/$10 waiting list, while the floor manager and two dealers went out for drinks...) The new facility is being marketed to an upscale audience, so maybe they will upgrade service....

Ill be in 'Burque the 24th, for the BB Tourney (Bear Down, Arizona!!!) and will be spending some quality time @ Sandia

agreed. I was at Sandia last summer and played the 4/8 kill game for a few hours waiting for my wife to come down from the mountains and pick me up. Worst group of regular players I've ever seen in my life. I was the only one at the table who didn't know everyone else (a limit tourney was going on and these guys had all busted out). A couple of them were talking about who their favorite WPT player was, etc... - It was a hoot.

Paid for my plane fair in 2.5 hours sitting there. Easy pickens...

haven't tried any other games.
