Default 30/60 Flopped Set

Party 30/60 game, and this is about my third hand after sitting down. I know very little about either of the main opponents...I have less than 40 hands on either one of them. The only possibly relevant stat that I can provide is that UTG has gone to showdown 32% of the time, and won 60%.

Party Poker 30/60 Hold'em (9 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. UTG posts a blind of $30.
<font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, MP3 calls, <font color="#666666">3 folds</font>, UTG (poster) calls.

Flop: (6.50 SB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(4 players)</font>
UTG checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP3 raises</font>, UTG calls, <font color="#CC3333">Hero 3-bets</font>, MP3 calls, UTG calls.

Turn: (7.75 BB) A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(4 players)</font>
UTG checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP3 raises</font>, UTG calls, <font color="#CC3333">Hero 3-bets</font>, MP3 calls, UTG calls.

River: (16.75 BB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(4 players)</font>
UTG checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP3 raises</font>, UTG calls, <font color="#CC3333">Hero 3-bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP3 caps</font>, UTG folds, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 26.75 BB

I really went into the tank on the river, and would normally just call here. After some thought, I felt that any hand that could beat me would have capped the flop or the turn, so I bet out.

Your thoughts? Should I even be playing this hand from EP in this game? I tend to play this hand in this position about half the time, and when I do play, I probably limp around 30% of the time.

Thanks!

I'd have cut it off on the Hero reraises line on the river, simply seeing him cap changes my view of the hand. My one concern here is 88 and 55 now both beat you, though you could be crushing A5s, but I dunno how donkish that'd be.

Preflop that seems a little loose in UTG+1. If the game has a lot of limping, then I would feel pretty comfortable limping that. If its TAG, I am not very happy playing it out of position against agg players post flop. Post flop it kind of plays itself I think. Your thinking sounds pretty solid.

Peace,

Joe
