Instead of options, tell people you're a futures trader. That's my occupation, and whenever I say futures, no one asks any follow up questions because they don't know what the hell it is. If you say you trade stocks or options, people might ask more questions.

the recent poker boom has brought somewhat of an air of respectability to the game. true story: i owe some figure to northeastern university. they pass the debt off to a collection agency, which starts hounding me. the loan officer threatens to do all sorts of terrible things to me, including seizing all my assets. i say "Look, i'm completely willing to pay here, let's set up a payment plan of some other figure a month." he tells me that i'm not eligable to set up a plan with no source of income. i respond that i'm a professional poker player and earn a pretty good living. at which point he gets all excited, tells me that he watches the wpt every week, and that he just made an account on party.

so, he became completely willing to bend the rules for me, and every month when i pay him we shoot the [censored] for a while about poker.

anyway, the moral is more people nowadays understand that poker can be a profitable game

I think this theory has already been refuted in this thread. Several times.

Oops, actually, that was in the "is poker an ethical way to make a living" thread in the psy forum. Sorry.

When playing poker in a casino I tell folks I'm a bum. Almost the truth.

I rarely laugh out loud alone, that line got me.

As for the job title. Try living in Europe doing it. At least most N.Americans know what poker is now due to telivision coverage. I also have the honest bug, when my source of income comes up....Euro chicks certainly dont dig it. My roomates are just coming around after 5 months of me partying and not working a minute. Saying that, i still do feel like a bum. l-i-v-i-n.

Get a life dirtball!

Go to college, be a useful part of society, find a career, instead being a hermit behind the computer

I make money off poker too but, I am also working on my third degree right now and becoming someone other what you are right now.

[/ QUOTE ]

Get a job dirtball! You have two degrees. Get a job and be a useful member of society instead of being a professional student. You may want to take a semester of English 101 before you leave though...
