Re: Why is a full house called a boat?
In Mississippi 1906, a man named Thomas Winslow lost his riverboat to another man named Ken Stitson when he had an ace-high flush beat by a full house, I think it was queens over 8's but history is not positive about that.
Stitson then used the boat to have tours down the Mississippi river and the boat became a conversation piece. The boat was used for cards as well, and the full house name was eventually turned into the term "boat". |

Re: Why is a full house called a boat?
[ QUOTE ]
why do they call ace high ace high? [/ QUOTE ] Because Johnny "Ace" Smith was playing in a hotel room game in Dallas, and someone switched his cigars for wacky backy. After a couple hours, "Ace" was a little under the influence, and thought that AKJT9 made a straight. |

Re: Why is a full house called a boat?
How much cocaine did Ginger have to do to blow through the jewelry that Ace had put into the bank after she left him?
And why hadn't she hocked the 3K in rare coins to buy more blow? And where can I get a neon green suit like DeNiro wears during the Whip It scene. |

[/ QUOTE ] Thank you, that is what I had heard, but wanted confirmation from a second (perhaps more reliable) source |
