Default Re: I hate Ipod and want something else for MP3\'s

I picked up the Creative Zen Micro 5GB that is compatible with the Napster to Go service.

I'd recommend it highly. Great sound (I'd also recommend Sony headphones if you hate the earbud things like I do, you'll find review on cnet.com). And paying $15 a month to have the thing constantly loaded with 2000 songs kicks ass.

FWIW..

Iriver H10, end of story. Got one a week ago, couldn't be happier with it. I got the 20gig for I think $290 and I think it's far superior to my friend's Ipod.

I have the 40 gig. It's better then the IPOD.

No, by "downloadable" I mean "downloadable." Microsoft has developed a DRM scheme that lets you download files that you can play on your computer - online or offline - and transfer to compatible music players like the Creative Zen Micro. It's not streaming. When your subscription runs out the download stops playing. The only drawbacks - you can't burn the downloaded songs and you can't transfer to more than a few computers.

I highly recommended you check out Yahoo Music's new Unlimited subscription program. If you commit to a year it's a third of the price of Napster. I switched last month and the selection is just as good - there are some albums I couldn't get on Yahoo that were available on Napster, but the reverse was true as well.

Sorta off topic, but does anyone know how to take music off of an iPod?

I'd go for Monolith MX-7050 (not a harddrive player)
Here are some images (Swedish review).

The summary says:
"Monolith MX-7050 is one of the best players on the market. The price is the same as similar high-end products - this is a player for those of you who want the best in audio quality.

Positive: Appearance, high headphone volume, charged in less than 1h, clear display
Negative: Relative high price, feels slightly plastic, usb 1.1, only 11hrs playtime

---

This player does not feature a harddrive, rather it has a flash-card that holds 1GB at max.
68 x 36 x 17,2 mm and 50 grams is about half that of an iPod mini, both when it comes to size and weight.

It's a balance where you have to chose between small size and weight at the sacrifice of storage space. If you change your mind and want a flash-card player this is the one to have.

Also, the Monolith can play any kind of mp3s, not just legally downloaded ones.
