Million $ Guaranteed Hand - Will You Make This Play?
I just busted in my usual low limit tourney when I decided to sweat one of the well-respected, winning 2+2er who made this play which appeared too unorthodox for me:
Chip leader with 32K and pretty active open-raised at MP1 or 2 for 800 when blinds where 200/400. Folded to hero at SB with 13K who called for the additional 600. Flop was 7c 4s 3c. Hero checked, MP bets 400, hero raised to 1000. Turn was Jc. Hero check-called MP's bet of 400. River was 8s. Hero check-called MP's bet of 1800. Hero wins with 2 pairs 3s 7s. Comments? |

Re: Million $ Guaranteed Hand - Will You Make This Play?
Like most poker decisions, it depends. Remember, this is no limit. The cards are often meaningless. If the villain is fairly predictable or overly aggressive we might be able to win this hand enough of the time to make calling profitable. We're looking for a certain type of flop that most likely missed the villain and we'll try to steal it away. In this case, the flop hit us hard, probably didn't hit the villain, and we can give the villain a little rope to win some extra chips.
It's not often a good thing to look at a hand in isolation although we often do. There are metagame issues as well as previous hands we need to take into consideration. |

Guess Who?
Anybody else would care to comment? I think this is not interesting unless you can guess the player, who from what I read about him, is a very successful one with his fearless Hansen-like style of play.
