I see why you have 2 *'s already. Pretty much by definition a libertarian would be opposed to the vast increase in federal power that occured because of the New Deal.

Now unless your contention with this thread was to point out how libertarians got it all wrong and the New Deal was not a blow to federalism and limited government, this thread is pointless.

My planned response to the intended libertarian response of "yes we oppose it" was "didn't the new deal bring America out of a terrible depression".

It didn't. And by many accounts it made it worse. WWII brought America out of the depression.
