Default Hush Posting Guideline - new posters please read

Hand History Posts

-If you have reads and wish to include them, please put them before the action of the hand. Many posters include a read that consists of 3 numbers, eg 30/20/3. These numbers are the opponents' vpip, pfr, and af, respectively. See the link below for definitions of these terms.

-Some posters prefer to type out the action themselves, others like to use a converter. Bison’s converter is available here. (Make sure to erase the word "Texas" from the title of the hand history.) If you dont use the converter, include the stakes of the hand and where it was played to get the most accurate responses possible.

-To get the most helpful responses do not include the results of your hand with the post. Wait and post them later if you want to discuss them.

-While not forbidden, its generally frowned upon to include multiple hands in the same post. Such posts often get fewer replies since people don’t want to take the time to read all the hands involved.

Pokertracker Stat Posts

-Identify your post with Stats in the subject line.

-Posts without a significant number of hands will lead to few replies and unhelpful and possibly misleading advice. Consider waiting until you have 30k or more hands in your database.

-Some good information can be found in this thread (be sure to check out all the posts for some additional links.)

Low Content Posts

-Please mark any posts without strategy content as NC in the subject. This includes bad beats, bad play by opponents, amusing hands, making quads, random comments etc.

-The short term luck factor in poker is high, and in shorthanded poker particularly so. But please think twice before making a post about your downswings, upswings, bad beats, or winrates. Here are some helpful posts on the subject of winrates and variance.

-Explanations of some common terms and abbreviations can be found here

-The high traffic in the hush forum means that posts often get pushed off the first page with few views/ replies. Don’t get discouraged if this happens to you. Bump your posts if you want, within reason, and preferably include some thoughts of your own or specific questions. The best way to get replies and help is to respond to the posts of others. Posters will make an effort to help the people who respond to them.

-Because of frequent spamming, links to commercial sites are highly likely to be taken down. Sometimes this will happen when no promotion of the site was intended. Send a PM to the mod with any concerns about this stuff.

-The HUSH forum is technically for all types of poker. But in practice limit holdem is discussed almost exclusively. If you want to discuss a shorthanded hand from a different poker game, youre better off posting in the forum dedicated to that game (for example the nolimit/ potlimit forums, and the 1 table tournament and mutltitable tournament forums).

-Threads requesting coaching are allowed, within reason. Threads announcing you are a coach are not.

-Do not post a thread intended for one person. Use the private message function instead.

-If youre new to the forum and want to read some old posts to get started, you can start with these
