Re: 6 or 10 seat table. which do you prefer and why?
I am a winning 2/4 player (over about 100,000 hands). I have tried several times to play 6 max to try to clear bonuses and have gotten my ass handed to me.
Has anyone written anything on how to play in a 6 handed game? Pretending the first 4 players folded doesn't work for me. |

I find a LOT of people who try to go from full ring to 6max either fail miserably and barely eek out above break even play. It is one hell of a different monster and the correct way to play is MUCH more LAG. I know it took me along time to get from 18/15 to the 25/20 that I'm at now. You just have to learn to play post flop a LOT better. I know I still have room to improve, even if I'm running hot (which I am). |

Re: 6 or 10 seat table. which do you prefer and why?
The biggest adjustment IMO is learning how hand values change. In 6 max hands like TPWK, MPGK, or a PP higher than the middle card are good hands. For most hands your threat of domination drops something like 5% (from 10% in full ring) These same reasons are why I can't seem to adjust back to full ring, I find myself in many dominated situations or just play a weak ass hand that should have been tossed long before the river (perhaps preflop

10 max because I am by nature a tighter, somewhat passive player and because I can't mentally handle the variance in 6 max.

Ten. Ten. Ten. Ten.
With a nine kicker. Partly it's more familiar. Partly it is mindset. I prefer a disciplined game. LAGs/Maniacs annoy me. The only pleasure I get from them is seeing them bust out (hopefully after making a contribution to my stack). It irks me that there even EXISTS a form of the game where their style of play is close to correct. I can't imagine willingly playing in such a game. I do read about it and try it every now and then to see if my mind has changed - but it sure hasn't yet. |

It is so much fun being LAG though!
Unless you get played back at a ton and miss all your cards like I did today... still I'm only down 20 Big Bets, so I can't complain. |

6-max.
Switched a few months ago and haven't played a single 10-max hand since. Love the action. |

Those that prefer Ten handed most likely haven't really played much 6 handed.

Re: 6 or 10 seat table. which do you prefer and why?
I've only played 6-max, ever since the beginning. I like the action, I like playing more hands. In PT, I'm rated as "ultra-aggressor" with the bomb icon.

The bomb icon is the winniest player at 6max. The shark is just a glorified fish.
