The old rock got angry at me (aka "You called with a GUTSHOT??!?")

I was playing my 8/16 casino game around here. I've been pretty cold card wise, and I pick up J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] T:heart in the BB (9 handed). The Old Rock (who happens to be a prop player) raises UTG, 4 cold callers, SB calls, I call. Flop comes AK4r, he bets, 4 callers, I call. Turn brings a brick, he bets, 3 callers, I call. River brings my Q giving me the nuts. I check, he bets, 2 callers, I raise, he calls, 2 callers. He turns over AA and I show my nuts.

After I take down the pot, he looks at the board and my cards. "You called me with a GUTSHOT? A GUTSHOT!?!? I can understand an open ended but a GUTSHOT?" Needless to say he looks disgusted and I guess I feel a little bad but it was a huge pot and I was happy. So I said "I got lucky" and continued stacking my chips.

After that point he would pay special attention to everything I did. He even isolated me once or twice when I raised in MP...and essentially raised the stakes of the game. He started playing back at me...and although I ended the day up a ton, I was making less money in the end when he started to play back at me, and it sucked.

WTF was I supposed to do? Fold when I was getting like 20:1 on my call to the nuts?

I just don't understand these guys. I'm sure he's a winner since the games are so incredibly terrible live...but seriously, if he ever folds his GUTSHOT!?!? getting 20:1 that says a lot.

I love when the rocks sit in with the young guns at the MGM 4-8, 6-12, and 10-20 games. Makes for some good times in the box... I've seen rocks/older players get on the table, and while waiting for the BB to post, they witness all the "live straddles", 3, 4, and 5 betting with trash, etc... and they get right up from the table without even playing a hand... Then I'll joke to the players "now look what you did...you scared the [censored] out of that guy!" Usually brings a laugh to the group...

"I got lucky," is the perfect response. Act humble and contrite. Be aware that he may then be "out" for you and adjust accordingly.
