Re: 5-10 NL set
I think checking this turn would be a mistake, I think betting anything less would be pointless, I think there are worse hands that will call your bet. Well played.

Re: 5-10 NL set
I'm curious to know why you raised 9xBB here. That seems big to me, but I don't play at this level.

Re: 5-10 NL set
Big pair, out of position. You have to raise this more than 4xBB. If he makes is 40-50, then people have great odds (and position), to call with lots and lots of hands in attempt to take his stack.
El Diablo likes his stack, so El Diablo should protect it. fsuplayer ps Also, if they will call it, why not? |

Re: 5-10 NL set
I think a checkraise on the turn all-in could work too if you think he would bet if checked to on the turn. This way you have some bluffing edge from him as well, where the way you played it, he might call with a lower set, but will probably only call with a flush unless you have a crazy image. Since the ace comes, he can't put you on a flush and fold a lower one. Hope he called with 77 What are your reasons for the all-in bet on the turn?

Re: 5-10 NL set
Looks good. How often do you bet out on a flop like that?

Re: 5-10 NL set
What do you have to gain by betting it? There isn't much he could have. By checking it, you can try and win a small pot (but still extract more value than you would by betting out) from pocket pairs below kings. Also possible though unlikely but extremely profitable when it happens is letting someone catch lower set.

Which of these hands is he not going to bet a flop like this with? A monster or jackshit that he's given up on. If he comes out firing he could easily have JJ or AK or whatever unless you're the type of player who checks a LOT when first to act and raising preflop then checking the nuts is a mistake and a signal to the strength of your hand. |

"If he comes out firing he could easily have JJ or AK or whatever"
True, but if he checks the flop he is even more likely to have JJ. I will check JJ or QQ on this flop some of the time. |
