Default ITM & w/ Chip Lead, what\'s the play

$10 + 1
Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t300 (3 handed) converter

BB (t610)
Button (t2040)
Hero (t5350)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 2, A.
Button raises to t610, 1 fold, BB calls t310 (All-In).

Hand from another post.

I thought since the Button raised enough to put the BB in to the dollar, he was representing a monster and folded accordingly.

I'd be interested in hearing others thoughts.

I would fold no reason to get involved here.

With A2 I fold...but I guess people might argue for a push here. He would need a monster to call. You never know he could be raising that much so he can get away from it if you come over the top.

BB's calling with any 2, unless you push, whereas you're only going to be shown Aces. Button's representing, and probably has a hand better than A2o. I think I might call here. There are certainly stealing opportunities on the flop, and you are first to act. With these stacks, your best chance of winning is moving in.

But Button's being weak-tight, he might fold if you push here, and that would be very nice.

if you are just calling this preflop, the hand should be checked down. Bluffing the dead side pot would not be a good idea.

Wrong, Wrong...

This is a push! BB will fold thinking that he can fold into 2nd place if you and the Button battle it out. Your push is going to look like a monster and most times the Button will fold if the BB in fact folds because he doesn't want to finish 3rd when if he folds he is guaranteed 2nd.

He raised to that level because he doesn't want you to bust him out.

Thinking about it, I like pushing better, but I certainly think if Button is being weak-tight, I want to get him to lay down his hand, also knowing that BB is calling any 2, or at least should call any 2. Ace high could very well be good after the flop.

That said, pushing is better, because I think Button is trying to isolate UTG, and he's not going to commit his entire stack in. He might be trapping, but oh well.

I figured the BB is calling anything, so I did not want a 3 way w/ A2. I was ready to get to HU play and did not think I needed to give Button any extra chips.

I understand. What I said was if you JUST call preflop there should be no stealing the pot. It should be checked down.
