Is it heresy to say their best song is a cover? "I Fought the Law" is seminal punk to me.

Depends on mood. As unwilling as I am to mention it on this site, I've always had a soft spot for "The Card Cheat," if only because, well, because, its a [censored] awesome song.

I don't know why, but:

"
From the hundred year war to the crimea
With a lance and a musket and a roman spear
To all of the men who have stood with no fear
In the service of the king"

gets me every time.

To stay with LC, I'd add "Koka Kola" not for any political insights, but simply because I love the way
"In the gleaming corridors of the 51st floor
The money can be made if you really want some more" sets up a nice tight song.

Damn, neither of those are best song though.

I'm a sucker for "Up in Heaven" too, don't know why.

I like 'em all.

Actually, thats not true, but I like most of it most of the time.

Best Clash song is like asking which is the worst Twisted Sister tune.

There are so many. Probably one of the five best bands of all time. My personal favorite is Guns of Brixton.

Side stoty: I saw a Pogues show where JS filled in after SM was kicked out of the band for being a drunk. JS was totally hammered and it still was one of the best live shows I ever saw.

Tuco.
