Re: Call?
We're missing something here. The argument that he holds a smaller flush may be correct against a weak player. But doesn't a good player correctly read you for a made flush? The turn card obviously didn't help you.
You either have something on the flop, or you're trying a steal. Checking the flop and raising the turn seems like a very dangerous way to steal because he could be trapping you. If you DON'T have a made flush, your play is very dangerous giving a free card on the flop. Even a good hand like AK with the spade king needs to bet the flop. If he has a set, your turn raise wasn't big enough to give him bad odds against continuing. They're improved because any reasonable flush you hold does NOT contain any of his outs. Also, he may get a big call on the river giving him great implied odds. Those claiming you had to get the money in earlier are right about avoiding this decision. I don't mind a bit of slow play trying to win a big pot (hey man, it's NO limit). But you're now either facing a boat, an idiot, or a HUGE pair of stones. |
