Default I told myself I would post one of these hands

I've been doing some crazy things lately. Feel free to tear into this one. It's my first hand at the table and I'm posting in LP.

Ultimate Bet No-Limit Hold'em, $1 BB (10 handed) converter

MP3 ($61.70)
Hero ($100)
Button ($92.45)
SB ($106.10)
BB ($104.35)
UTG ($165.85)
UTG+1 ($23.50)
UTG+2 ($36.75)
MP1 ($147.95)
MP2 ($100.90)

Preflop: Hero is CO with 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Hero posts a blind of $1.
<font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP1 raises to $2</font>, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, Hero (poster) calls $1, Button calls $2, SB calls $1.50, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>.

Flop: ($9) 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(5 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">SB bets $4.75</font>, MP1 folds, Hero calls $4.75, Button folds.

Turn: ($18.50) J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">SB bets $6</font>, Hero calls $6.

River: ($30.50) 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">SB bets $12</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $40</font>

Final Pot: $82.50

This is not crazy if you had a read that made this bluff a good one.

It's my first hand at the table and I have no data on any players here.

Meh, don't know what your average 100NL player is like. In 50NL I don't even think of trying this without a read.

dont do this at 50nl without a real good read.

youll beat these games because theyll call the 40$ when you make your straight, you cant have it both ways.

No reason to try this as the first hand at the table. You're normal player at this level is more of a calling station than anything else.

Your play is fine, although if you going to bluff the river you might as well put all the chips in (that is that I would do anyway). If you get called you lost a buy in, but you also established your credentials as a bluffer. If you use your bluffer image you will be able to get called in places where other people wouldn't.
