Re: Feeling Clueless
BB range of hands is large. He could have almost anything. There are alot of hands that would raise that flop.
AQ might ply this way, AJ, AT, KJ, KT, KQ, TQ, 9J, 89. The turn K certainly helped him more than you. Check call looks good. Might be able to find a turn bet/fold against a passive. |

Re: Feeling Clueless
Does anyone else feel that he should have folded pf? Just my opinion, J10o is not that great of hand. Furthermore, I would only like to play this type of hand on the button or one off. Calling and being UTG for the rest of the hand is tough considering the modesty of J10o, unless you are amazing post-flop I would just fold J10o and move on to the next hand.

Re: Feeling Clueless
I think I'd fold the river. There are only a few hands BB would play this way that you have beat (J9, T9, or overplayed Kx or Qx). BUT:
[ QUOTE ] No real reads yet, being at the table only a few orbits. [/ QUOTE ] Nothing at all? Without reads this is really hard. 1. Is BB the type of person who would just check a good hand from the BB? AA-99, AK-A9, KQ-K9, QJ-Q9 all beat you here, but would the BB just check them after a "tourist" limps on the button? If so, I think you have a clear fold on the river. 2. Is BB fishy enough to call with Kx or Qx, or tough enough to fold two pair? If so, go with the aformentioned (by another poster) bet-fold, bet-fold. 3. Is the BB LAGgy? If so, call down. Without reads, your hands are tied. Against an unkown, though, I just don't see calling the river and hoping for J9, T9, or a really overplayed Kx or Qx (or a chop w JT) being profitable. -Grendel |

Re: Feeling Clueless
I'm not sure what hands you still beat on the turn. Maybe Kx? Always think about a range for your opponent.
At first glance I thought you defenetely played it right but I think I might be able to find a fold on the turn. Even if you hit a T or J on the river you still can't be sure you are ahead. I can't fault you too much for calling down against an unknown, but my guess is that it is slightly -EV. |

Re: Feeling Clueless
I think you played it fine. The worst thing you could do at a 2/4 table, against an unknown, on a saturday night, is fold the turn or river.
