I've never seen it work. I think idiots just see OTHER idiots asking and then ASSUME if THEY are asking, it must work sometime. I know on full tilt, people reguarly lose their chat privileges if they get caught begging (which has happened a bunch, actually).

We played a stud forum SnG a couple sundays ago, and for the first half-hour, some jackazz was begging the layers at my table for 5$ so he could play a tournament. he was really persistant, and i was tempted to send him 5 bucks to shut him the hell up, but then i realized that that's his game... he left after a severe berating at the hands of andy b.
i assume that it DOES work from time to time, but i can't see it as possibly being +EV vs just working an extra hour and making a deposit, for chrissakes. i usually tell 'em to 'say something entertaining', and then i'll 'give them the money', but they never do, so neither do I. jerkoffs.

Someone was bumming on stars or party (don't remember which, but it was definitely for small money) and I told them this true story.
We were playing three or four years ago and somehow these two little black kids got into the club. One guy flipped one of the kids a chip out of a pot he won, and the club owner not to be overdone flipped the other kid a chip. We played primarily with money and just used a few hundred dollars worth of 5$ chips for change, so the kids cashed out 5$ each and happily left. The way the games work in our area, we play a different night in different towns with different operators, so it wasn't until next week that we had our game again. It wasn't long after we started that someone say "**** ****" and we all looked up at the camera. There must have been 50 little black kids coming up the stairs. After I told this story, I was hoping the bummers would get the point, but no. After waiting for me to get this out in between hands over 10 minutes or so, he said "So, can I still get the money?"

A few weeks ago I gave away over $100 including one person $50.
If someone hits me when I'm in a good mood and on the site I enjoy the most, I will be willing to give out some.
