Default PP 5/10: KK capped preflop. what to do against a sudden turn raise.

i've only been at the table for 2 orbits, but it's one of the ones where everyone folds to an early raise preflop(18% table vpip). i haven't seen too much out of the button. he has low stats but over 2 orbits that doens't mean very much.

You NEVER EVER EVER EVER limp KK preflop ESPECIALLY if teh table is tight and you let marginal hands see a cheap flop. Not only is your hand undefined but you are more prone to make mistakes which I am sure you did. Change tables if it's too tight, don't start trying to generate action. I would just call down and hope I'm against AQc. If the six or nine pair on the river I am tempted to bet/call the river.

Sorry to tell you man, but most of the responses you get will be about this.

However. I call the turn, c/c the river.

for what it's worth, there was also a fair amount of raising going on at the table and i felt reasonably certain that i'd be raised if i limped (table pre-flop raise 12%). this is also a play that i never really do, but i'd already had a couple really good hands (AA,etc.) and i figured i'd mix it up. still i think you've got a good point. the thing i was really wondering about here was what, given the possible range of hands he would raise with on the turn, i should do on the turn. i think that if he'd had AQ he'd have raised on the flop in order to define his hand against me, the pre-flop limp-capper. the play i a pulled almost invariably does define my hand as KK or AA and therefore waiting to raise with AQ would be a really weak play. i actually thought he either had made a set of Jacks already had a set of queens or had KK (of which there is only one) or AA.

if you're ever going to mix it up in a 5/10 game with KK, don't start by limping utg. this is just disaster waiting to happen.

The above sounds right, except I check/fold if an Ace lands on the river.

Well, table selection may be an issue, but this is exactly where and how you should be LRRing. The idea that you can't "afford" to let marginal hands see a cheap flop is pretty marginal in itself.

That said, this is the worst possible board you could see. Check call it down.
