Re: Discussion on Middling
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] I think the bottom line is you need a book that deals square lines, like Bowmans or SIA, and a Pinny or exchange (Matchbook, Tradesports, Mansion) to take the other side of the middle. At this point I'm still using my free commission credits (off their Colts +820 mistake) at Matchbook to make my wagers there, including the +104.25 bet I made on the Monday night middle. I don't do middling often -- only when I will have both sides of the bet returned to me quickly. [/ QUOTE ] I just signed up with Pinnacle. Now when you say they deal a sharp line, that means that since sharps look to take the dogs and the unders, that the Pinnacle lines favor the favorites and overs right? And in fact when I compared it to Bodog, the Pinnacle lines were 1/2 point in the favorite's favor, if at all. The problem was these lines were closer to -110 than the -104 Pinnacle usually lays, so though the chance for the middle is there, the juice is now greater. Is my understanding of this correct? Either way, it looks like I have another sportsbook to line shop at, which can't be a bad thing. [/ QUOTE ] No, sharp in this case implies lines that change quickly, oftentimes just a step before the other books do and which are usually at consensus, or future consensus, numbers. |

[/ QUOTE ] So when you talk about a middling opportunity here, it's because Pinny changes their lines while the other books stay at the same old lines, giving the sharp bettor a chance to middle before the other books can get back in line? |

[/ QUOTE ] Yes, but really the bigger key is having a book that deals square lines. The other side, the Pinny side, can be satisfied with an exchange like Mansion or matchbook. Matchbook's lines for ex. usually lag Pinny's by only a few mins. |
