Default PLO8 Hand 1

Virgin PLO8 session. Comments on anything welcome.

Party Poker $25 PLO8 (7 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is CO with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].

Table has been 5 or 6 to the flop the past few hands. I immediately think a check raise to isolate down to 1 or 2 is a good play.
Does my hand warrant this line?

UTG checks.
UTG+1 folds.
EP calls [$0.25].
Yours_Truly calls [$0.25].
LP calls [$0.25].
SB raises [$0.40].
BB calls [$0.25].
UTG folds.
EP calls [$0.25].
Yours_Truly raises [$2.75].
LP folds.
SB calls [$2.50].
BB folds.
EP calls [$2.50].

Flop: 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB checks.
EP bets [$9.60].
Yours_Truly raises [$19.20].
SB folds.
EP calls [$9.60].

With nut low draw, st8 draw, weak, pair and backdoor flush draw, should I push this or call hoping SB comes along for the ride?

Turn: 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
Dream card, too bad my entire stack is almost already in...
EP checks.
Yours_Truly bets [$0.25]. (Mis-click, meant to put in my remaining $1.20.)
EP calls [$0.25].

River: 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
EP checks.
Yours_Truly is all-In [$0.95]
EP calls [$0.95].

Final Pot: $48.40

Results in white below:
EP shows [ Kc, 4s, Ad, 5d ] a straight, ace to five.
EP shows 5,4,3,2,A for low.
Yours_Truly shows [ Ac, 4h, 6s, 2c ] a straight, two to six.
Yours_Truly shows 5,4,3,2,A for low.
Outcome:
Yours_Truly wins $24.20 from the main pot with a straight, two to six.
Yours_Truly wins Lo ($12.10) from the main pot with 5,4,3,2,A.
EP wins Lo ($12.10) from the main pot with 5,4,3,2,A.

You didn't checkraise, but limp-reraised preflop. It's terrible. You have pretty weak high chances that are much stronger in a multiway pot. You're worse off once it becomes heads up, often against a hand that has you as close to dominated as you can get. If Villain cannot fold easily (i.e. $25 PLO/8), the raise is atrocious.

EP held relative junk, but look what happened when you checkraised:

cards EV
4s Kc Ad 5d 0.563
6s Ac 2c 4h 0.437

You make the most money from Villain when he chases you down in a multiway pot, when you flop well.

You don't have anything on the flop. Against another nut low you're usually way behind. Against a king you're not in great shape either. I really really hate the flop raise - any caller has you at least beaten for high. You just put your stack in as a 62/38 dog, but if Villain has A2 instead of A4 (quite reasonable), you're 3:1 behind.

Nice suckout.

:virtual dope slap:

I'm thinking that going from LO8 6-max to PLO8 full ring, may not be a simple transition. I've obviously got much more to learn than I thought.

Thanks...more hand postings to come

I guess I'm not quite as harsh as the other reply. The limp-reraise was a bit risky: what would you do if the SB re-reraised? But putting in 10% of your stack preflop with that very nice starting hand isn't so bad. You can still get away from it if you don't flop well, and it allows you to get all the money in quickly when you do.

The flop is not great, but not bad for you, either. Someone could have A2Kx or KKxx and have you in trouble. If you call the flop, you are pretty much committed to call the turn as well. Nonetheless, I think I would just call the flop to leave some chance of pushing him out of the pot with a big bet later on. (Say if the river put the low and a straight on the board.)

Yes the flop was pretty bad for him.

6s Ac 2c 4h 37.6%
4s Kc Ad 5d 62.4%

Don't limp reraise preflop with that hand because you will only get called by better hands. Plus you allow the guy with AA to completely destroy any implied pot odds by shoving right back at you preflop. Open it for a raise preflop sure, but don't limp reraise back at anyone as you cannot call if they shove back at you.

Thats true, but he said the table was having like 8 people take a flop, I dont know about raising when the table is that loose and am first to act like he was. I would just limp in and hope to hit my hand and break someone with a smaller flush and worse low, which was bound to happen with 8 people taking a flop, based on the read he had on the table, limping in was probably best, no raise.

I do believe your posts have jumped the shark.

I did like that movie, though.
