57 Minutes. That's all I need to take this tourney down.

I'm going to say about 8 hours if you stick to the schedule. I'm not sure why you would want it to take so long unless there's a huge buy-in.

I am going with an easy 8 hour day, unless the players are ultra-aggressive.

If you want to play a while, keep the 1st 4 rounds at 40 minutes, but drop the other after that to 20 minutes. Also, do not stop at 500-1000, keep incresing the BB by 1000 and antes by 100.

I gotta go with the other posters in this thread, at least 7-8 hours unless you've got pro dealers and everyone is a total LAG. It could go nine.

For 18 players with a decent mix of skill levels, I'd have a big blind equal to the starting chips around the time I wanted the tourney to end. The payout will influence the timing a bit, too. The more places that pay, the longer it'll take. From the bubble on, you'll often find players waiting on the smaller stacks to bust out.

Thanks guys, it went a little over 6 hours, which was probably helped by me and a few others playing drunken, idiot poker (and me eventually making a bad all-in call so I could join a side game that was starting up). It was good fun though.

I think we'll be doing another one of these in 3 weeks or so, except trying out 30 minutes at each level to see if we can cut it down to maybe 4.5-5 hours...

I have to agree 7-8 hours. You have 45,000 chips out. Rule of thumb is when the BB = 5-10% of the total outstanding chips, the tourney will end. So... you have to go a little farther in the Blinds.

Why would you want this tourney to last that long anyway? I would shot more to <3 hours for this.

Try the foxwoods blind schedule. It may help.

I just ran a tourney this weekend 30 players, 2000 starting chips, with some rebuys and addons, TOTAL OUT: 100,000 chips

Lasted for 6 hours with at least 30 minutes in breaks. Last level was 2000,4000. I used the Foxwoods schedule to a tee.

You've got it all backwards. The way you are supposed to do it to cut back on time is to have the blinds raise every 20 minutes say for the first three raises. Then after that you can go to 30-40. Thats the way its supposed to be done. Doesn't make sense to make blinds go up quicker once you have an established field. Then luck becomes an even bigger factor and I know at least I hate when that happens.
