Default Locking of a thread

What are the reasons for a thread to get locked?

Frequently you'll see the reason posted by the Mod who made the decision. It varies, depending on the forum, but it's always because boundaries of some type were overstepped. It's not done lightly, from what I've seen. Next time you see one, look for the Mod's post and check that forum's Sicky and/or TC.

There aren't any set standards. Sometimes it will because its there is already a thread on the subject, or it could violate the standards of the forum or sometimes it could just be a really dumb thread.
