Default 800 BB Downswing.....

Well, 800 BB in party 100NL 6max. So its only $3,201.38, or 32 buy ins. This is just this month, i think im down maybe 400 more if you count the last day of JAN.

Some background: I have been a full time pro for 13 months now. Most of that time i played 100NL full, 2 months of limit (3/6 5/10) and some tourneys. Of course i have seen some amazing downswings in my time in NL and limit, but this is by far the worst I have personally encountered.

Some stats from this month:
9,070 hands -3,201.38.

SD for this month: 32.4 (5 or so above my SD from all previous 6max 100NL hands).

hands that im down w/ this month:
JJ -774
AKo -268
KQs -225
KK -207
TT -161 (i think this is from bad play. For some reason i suck ass w/ TT)
99 -55

Of course some of this downswing is surely from bad play. But i feel that with a few exceptions i have been playing my absolute A game (at a few points my online roll was so thin i had to play less tables than usual thus i was paying more attention). The bulk of it is from 1 session where i didnt win ONE hand where i was all in. the vast majority of the time i have all my chips in i have the best of it.

Some other downsings i have encountered:

Obviously the usual small swings.

28,500 hands at 3/6 +665$ (previously the worst run ive encountered)

about 10k hands 100NL full -about $1k (i have been on one of these twice i think. I figured thats as bad as it gets. hehe, i was WRONG!)

So basiacly this is by far the most money i have ever been down. Its really eye opening. I have been thinking about all the time i played as a pro w/ no cusion or a short roll. This is the hard evidence that it is CRUCIAL to have a full roll and a nice cusion.

well i just had to "vent". Hope i didnt bore you to death.

David ross eat your heart out.

ps. wtf does eat your heart out mean?

How did the rest of the day end up yesterday? Were you down further than when I was on AIM?

Keep ya head up. Don't go on tilt or play tired.

And remember, pwntown.

Sorry to hear about your downswing. I started full time in Dec. 03, so 14 months for me now - and I'm at +152 for the last 24,000 hands. I've dropped down from $5/$10 and $10/$20 to $2/$4 for some sanity. Oh well, it happens, right?

Take at least 3-4 days off and go over a lot of hands in PT. Try and analyse stuff you've been doing differently. I can't stress how important this is.

While i agree with you i have to save up for taxes. So i will be playing 3k hands a day. I will of course go thru PT tho.

You make it sound as if playing fewer tables decreased your variance.

I didn't infer that at all.
