Yeah I tend to lose concentration after a hundred hands or so and start browsing the web or watching TV while playing poker. Another thing is when you're on a bad stretch of cards for a long time that you start playing hands you shouldn't, or you play too aggressively once you get some half decent cards even if there's a straight / flush draw on the table. [/ QUOTE ] Multi-table baby! It's the only way to fly. Catch a hand on all your tables at once and bored is the last thing you'll be. Edit: Just to clarify, this post was somewhat tongue-in-cheek. Although I do multi-table, it's definitely not for everyone and you shouldn't do it until you feel very comfortable with your game. |

Yeah I tend to lose concentration after "X" amount of hands [/ QUOTE ] This is a great point. Everyone has their different limits. I naturally always know when I'm hitting 300 hands and that is my limit to how much I like to play in one sitting. My friend can go 1000-1500 straight through. I can also get to 1000 or so a day if I want but with broken up sessions. So if you are feeling bored or losing your "A" game, take a break, and eventually you will find what works best for you. |

Re: MicroLimit Personal Progress...All Posters Post
Quick update.
Finally took the plunge to PP 1/2 full-time. Had a decent weekend and a good Monday, putting me at about 0.34BB/100. Nothing to write home about, but it's positive, so I'm going to commit to playing 1/2 until next Monday or I lose lose 150BB. At that point, if I seem to be holding my own, I'll stay at 1/2 -- otherwise, I'll jump back to .5/1 for a while. |

Re: MicroLimit Personal Progress...All Posters Post
I've been playing since the beginning of the year and dont have the stats pre-pokertracker. And um, I sorta didnt do that well either between learning stud, trying pot limit omaha hi/lo, and getting killed at my local casino playing spread limit no foldem holdem 2-5. After recently taking 2 days off to hit the books harder than ever, I settled down in the paradise 1/2 rooms. Here are my stats from 7/22/2004-8/2/2004:
$1/$2 - 6,676 Hands, +3.02BB/100 |

Re: MicroLimit Personal Progress...All Posters Post
Goal: Exceed 2BB/100 on 4 tables @ 3/6 by 1/1/2005
Current level: 2/4 as of 8/7/2004 .5/1 statistics (6/30/2004 to 8/7/2004) --------------- Hands: 11,910 VP$IP: 18.88% VP$IP(SB): 38.43% PFR: 7.86% Aggression: 1.29 Win rate: +6.72 BB/100 Hourly rate: +$11.68/hr. Tonight I played 2/4 exclusively for the first time, and the results were respectable. The following stats include about 500 hands played previously to help me get a feel for what to expect. 2/4 statistics (7/12/2004 to 8/7/2004) -------------- Hands: 1,133 VP$IP: 15.98% VP$IP(SB): 32.54% PFR: 6.62% Aggression: 1.49 Win rate: +2.01 BB/100 Hourly rate: +$9.19/hr. My biggest revelation is that I need to work on blind steals and steal defense. 2/4 is obviously tighter than .5/1, and I find myself either attacking or defending blinds far more often, even on comparatively loose tables. Time to re-read a couple sections in HEPFAP... |

Do you plan to skip 1/2 altogether? [/ QUOTE ] Yes, though I'd probably drop to 1/2 if I found myself struggling at this level. I understand from advice on this forum and elsewhere that 1/2 is pretty tight - basically a training grounds for 2/4. When I hit the BR necessary for 1/2, I had just come off an amazing run - I made 300 BB in a week on < 2,500 hands and had 10 consecutive winning nights. I felt I really couldn't base my success at .5/1 on that run, and decided to continue playing at that level. About this time, I also bought PT and got some experience using its tools. I felt better about moving up levels once I hit 20k hands @ .5/1 (I had about 10k under my belt before tracking stats) but now I was closing in on being able to move up to 2/4. I decided to play a few single table sessions at 2/4 while multitabling .5/1 or playing NL$25, and I found I could hold my own. And then I bonus whored $100 from Party, and suddenly I've got the BR. Re: MicroLimit Personal Progress...All Posters Post
I've played at Party and Prima.
For me, the difference has been quite drastic. At Party, the swings are unbearable. Even at $0.50/1.00, I'd win 40BB and lose 100BB all within four hours. So i've pretty much quit Party for a while. At Prima, I've managed about +4BB/100 in 4100 hands. But it's been very slow going. I don't have a huge rush like i did at Party. However, over the last four days I've been on a bad -80BB swing. So apparently, I can't win a lot quickly, but I sure can lose a lot. I'm certainly not moving up to $1/2 anytime soon. |

Re: MicroLimit Personal Progress...All Posters Post
I took a break after my initial two weeks of poker, and I came back partially because of the PP anniversary reload bonus and needed to get 700 raked hands in.
With multi-tabling, I played a better poker game and was able to drop my VP$IP from 45.54% to 29.82% and from break even to 12.90 BB/100. Still working on lowering my VP$IP more though . . . Edit: Oh yeah this may seem really basic to some of you, but once I found the 4-colors option it made multi-tabling a lot easier to spot the flushes. |

Re: MicroLimit Personal Progress...All Posters Post
It's been a pretty wild ride since I last posted progress. I went on another really bad run, then bounced back just as hard. Now I'm up to 4713 hands in PT with a BB/100 of 4.31. I've also continued to do quite well in no-limit when I play it and placed 21 in a $5000 tourney that I got into from winning a $1 qualifier, so my bankroll is nice and healthy again.
My main goal at this point is just to complete 10000 hands at .5/1, then I'll start taking a stab at 1/2 now and then and see how I do. Interesting side note ... my AA and KK are now not only net winners for a change, but they are #1 and #2 (followed by QQ and JJ) as it should be, so that's nice to see, as I was routinely taking massive bad beats with trip AAA and KKK to runner-runner straights that was making them my two worst hands. |
