Default ATs against a maniac.

Party Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (8 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
<font color="#CC3333">UTG raises</font>, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero 3-bets</font>, <font color="#666666">4 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">UTG caps</font>, Hero calls.

Flop: (9.50 SB) J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">UTG bets</font>, Hero calls.

Turn: (5.75 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">UTG bets</font>, Hero calls.

River: (7.75 BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">UTG bets</font>, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 9.75 BB

Ok, UTG is an extreme LAG. After his 45 hands his stats are 100VP$P/85PFR.

The 3bet PF was to isolate UTG. Postflop I really wanted to see a showdown, I felt like there was a good chance that I held the best hand. Is it weak to check/call down if I feel like I have the best hand, even if it is only Ace high?

Is this standard against a maniac?

This is straight out of Hold'Em For Advanced Players. I've never had to really use this line before, I've never had to play complete maniacs. But it looks perfect according to what I've read. Someone who has some experience comment.

I'm folding the turn. There may also be an argument for raising there.

yeah why not wait for a flop that you actually hit, if he's going to presumably hang around if you keep folding pre-flop caps to him? Let him take the money now then nail him on later streets with good holdings?

Looks like he's stack dumping; I'll give him credit for any two. Pokerstove says you have 76% equity on the river; cap away.

Edit: screwed up, see below

doesn't villain have a relatively large range of hands that beat us? J-x 8x 5x 2x AK AQ AJ...

is this really the line to take against a player like this? I'd think wait until i had at least one single pair, then take his money...
