Very 1st Home game. Help needed....
I'm about to host and play in my very first home game. I got a load of chips a while ago, but have never used them, so thought it's about time.
So I have a few questions:- 1. I have the following chip amounts :- 1's = 100 5's = 100 10's = 100 25's = 50 50's = 50 100's = 50 500's = 25 1000's = 25 Whats the best amount to split between 6,7,8 or 9 players ? 2. The games will be holdem (fixed and no limit) tourneys, what's the best way to up the blinds - by time or hands played (every 10 hands). If time, how long between each level ? Any other advise will be much appreciated. |

Re: Very 1st Home game. Help needed....
I haven`t actually visited that website, but from my own personal experience with my home games, I prefer to up the blinds not on a timer but with number of hands played, usually around 10-12.
Reason being is I find there`s a lot of chat at the table with home games and if your on a timer before you`ll know it the blinds would have been raised with very little action having gone on in that round. |

You don't have that much flexibility because of your limited chips in each denom but here's a T500 structure that I came up with for up to 10 players:
$5 x 10 = 50 10 x 10 = 100 25 x 4 = 100 50 x 5 = 250 Totals 29 chips = $500 Blinds Level Minutes Small Big 1 20 $5 $5 2 20 5 10 3 20 10 20 Break 5 min Remove 5s 4 20 20 40 5 20 40 80 6 20 50 100 Break 5 min Remove 10s & 25s 7 20 100 200 8 20 150 300 This set-up would last aprrx. 2 - 3 hours. |

Re: Very 1st Home game. Help needed....
Here is how I would do it and it would allow for up to 10 players at 1000 each. Blinds start at 5/10. You also are saving up your big chips for color ups. IMHO, I do not like when there are more than 4 or 5 different color chips in play at any time.
1's = 100 5's = 100 (5)=25 10's = 100 (10)=100 25's = 50 (5)=125 50's = 50 (5)=250 100's = 50 (5)=500 500's = 25 1000's = 25 |
