Default Best Thai or Seafood place in LA? Cool place to visit?

Heading out for the weekend - any suggestions? Looking for decent places but I don't want to spend more than $100 per person (excluding drinks) at the restaurants.

As for "cool" places to visit - don't suggest Universal Studios. Do suggest anything that has to do with entertainment (comedy clubs, shows, audience participation stuff etc...).

Thanks! (To pre-empt: I tried the search function but I prolly didn't use it right or these things are buried too deep for me to find).

Gladstones 4 Fish (the Malibu location not the one at Universal City Walk) is a must for out of towners. It's right on the sand, so be there to watch the sunset over the Pacific.

It isn't the best seafood in town (still good though), but the location (and view) makes it a must for visitors.

As for Thai places, in LA just throw a rock and it'll hit 2 or 3 good Thia places before it comes to a stop.

There's a funky place in on Sunset in Hollywood called Toi. Food good, decor is pure funk and it's open (or at least it used to be open) to like 3 or 4 am on the weekends, so the crowd is very interesting.

With all due respect, IMHO the food is terrible. Cool location, true.

Best seafood in town is The Water Grill downtown. Expensive but worth it. In a beautiful art deco building.

Toi was a good suggestion for Thai.

As far as nightlife goes, there are plenty of cool bars and clus on in the Hollywood Blvd/Cahuenga area, as well as Main St. in Santa Monica.

“In heaven, every meal would come with the garlic noodles” that are the signature of this “elegant” Beverly Hills Vietnamese also known for its “delicious” Dungeness crabs and other “outstanding” seafood dishes served in an “enchanting”, “decadent” setting complete with “illuminated” glassed-in koi ponds “underfoot”; “flawless service”, “beautiful people” and “lots of star sightings” help alleviate the pinch from the “astronomical prices” and dress code (“no jeans or sneakers”).

it'd be pretty crazy to drop $100 on thai food, unless you are ordering a seafood dish.

jesus, $100 bucks for one person. so insane!
