Yeah, even if you're playing Party $.50/1.00, you can't loosen up too much. There just aren't that many playable hands.

In this case in particular, you have a weak pair draw with a two-flush and a two-low. Even though it's only half a bet, you're just not going to make enough of a hand enough of the time to make it worth calling here. Most of the time, you won't be able to make something you like until at least sixth street, and you may be forced to muck before then.

I would take one off in high-only stud with this structure, though.
