AceJackSpade balance 390, lost 460 [ 7d 7h ] [ a pair of sevens -- Kd,8s,7d,7h,5d ]

That hand sparked a good 10 minute argument over whether or not I made a good call, regardless of whether or not it was right. I figured he couldn't have one of the top kickers with a pair of kings, he didn't raise preflop. He couldn't have chased the diamond flush if he was flush chasing, it went runner runner. So, he either had another bad king, or a worse pair (pocket or no). I was willing to bet it was the worse pair, or that either way my kicker won it.

Was it a loose call? No read on the opponent beyond this hand.

I wouldn't bet the flop with top pair crap kicker, I would wait til the turn. It's a great hand to snap off a bluff with, not a great hand to go to war with yourself.

It is my first post... was tutored by a friend of mine who lives in vegas playing pro, he pointed me to this site while he happened to be in town. I've been lurking for a while, learned a lot. This was the first thing I had that I felt warranted posting.

By the way assuming he had some other crap king is dangerous.. if it was me in this position for instance I would probably have KQ (though I'm doubting I would play this from CO+1, I do on rare occasion behind limpers). AK no, I would have raised, anything below KJ, no way no how, KJ itself, extremely rarely.

Oh yeah your reverse implied odds are terrible too. Someone will bet anyway because of the flush draw possibility so I'd definitely wait til the turn then bet out. Or perhaps check/raise. Depends.

If I had KQ I would raise the turn there, he'd have to be cautious of flush draws himself. I just couldn't put him on that. And the slight overbet on the river just smells to fishy for KQ.

You would yeah, but this isn't you, lol, this is him.

I still think check/call then either lead the turn or check/raise the turn is the best line here. You want to induce a bluff at some point if you can.

There are certainly different ways to play the hand in general. The flop bet is easily up for analysis. But, given how the flop and turn went, the river call itself. Good or bad?

As usual, this can usually be solved with math.
