Default Newb Question: Tipping Comp Drinks

I was playing in a $100 Max NL game so I didn't have a ton of chips to spare, especially compared to larger stacks who had been there before I sat down.

I asked the cocktail waitress for a diet coke (it was past where alcohol could be served). When she came by I gave her two bucks. Was cash okay to tip in lieu of chips and was the amount decent? It was at Greektown in Detroit if that matters...

You can certainly tip with cash if you don't want to use any of your chips. $2 is a great tip, most people usually tip $1/drink.

Yes, it's totally reaasonable to tip in cash if you don't want to reduce your stack. Either way is permissable in most rooms.
