Default When will we leave Iraq?

Personally, I think half our troops will be out by the mid-term elections. Maybe all. The upcomming Iraqi elections offer a cover. Ironically, I think the anti-war group should lay off, it will only be done if Republicans can make it look like it's thier idea and the job is done. Which they will do before the mid-term elections.

Glenn Beck, et al compare this war to WW2 with our occupation of Germany and Japan. They say it takes time to restablize these countries after we invade them.

What they don't get is that we still have tens of thousands of troops in Germany and Japan.

As for Iraq, we ain't going nowhere. Our boots are going to be where the natural resources are, for good.

I think what you will see is a partial withdralw areound 20% or so. Something signifigant to make it appear as if there is a long term plan in place to move them all, but leaving enough to ensure no civil war breaks out. If Iraq erupts into violence shortly after a large troop withdrawl everyone will look bad, but mostly the administration.

Bush, being a devout Christian, does not believe in pulling out, but rather in the 'rhythm method'.

So far so good.

I don't quite understand this sentence and its relevance to the first. Now I know nothing of Glenn Beck (I think I heard him on the radio once, maybe?), but how would you know whether he "gets" that we have troops in Germany and Japan still?

Plus you know that those troops might not be there for long...

I doubt it.

When was the last time a German, Jap, or Korean suicide bombed a military envoy?

[/ QUOTE ]Yeah, as if this was a cocktail party where someone did something very improper and we are not supposed to talk about it.

Get real.
