Default T.O. - will/can he play somewhere else this year?

Instead of putting this in the other thread, I was hoping one of the posters who is better informed could let me know on the ruling here.

He's suspended for four games and then they are, "Keshawn Johnson-ing" him for the rest of the year. Does that mean they are not accepting/entertaining offers from other teams?

Could they trade/waive him if they wanted?

Is there any chance he plays anymore this year? Obviously not with Philly...but anywhere?

They could cut or trade him, but they wont until the offseason. They'll just stash him away suspended for 3 more games and inactive for the rest of the season. No sense letting him go to another team to help someone else out while the Eagles are going to struggle making the playoffs.

I thought it was a different enough tangent to warrant a direct answer to a direct question. Way to reply if you think it's cludder however, cause that helps.

I think the answer here to the OP is pretty obvious. WLVRYN hit the nail on the head.

They are going to send him home and then try to recoup as much of his signing bonus as an arbitrator allows.

IIRC, there is a clause in his contract that stipulates the Eagles can recoup his signing bonus if he is suspended for conduct detrimental to the team, which is what happened.

TO, you got a five million dollar fine coming your way. Enjoy.

4 games at a little over 200,000 a game and they can take back $1.8 mil of his signing bonus if he is suspended.

So about $3.6 million out of his pocket right now. Plus, the $5 millon in roster bonus he won't be getting in March. And all of the money he lost because even a dumbass team like the Jets that considers signing him will never give him the long term deal he wants.

A commentator on ESPN today said that the word around the NFL is that TO will play for someone next year, but that it will be on the basis of "Rent TO for a year" to see how he works out. The consensus seems to be that no one will risk big bucks or a long contract for TO without proof that he will change.
