I check the flop.

But if I was tired I would probably bet on auto-pilot mode.

Why would you ever check the flop. I know the reason will be terrible, I just want to hear why.

[/ QUOTE ]

Because it sounds like the button will bet almost everytime when checked too here. Plus, even if it's checked around it's not so bad and you can bet any turn blank or check a K or Ace or [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].

I don't think his fold is bad at all. I think he's being results oriented.

[/ QUOTE ]

Let me know when "they call a lot" equals a BB that will bet all the time. And the flop getting checked around is hideous, but thanks for the terrible reasons.

A checkraise on this flop really isn't necessary. Just bet.

I promise if you check it will be checked to LP and they will bet. If this is true than it's optimal.

Things in poker are rarely absolute. I'd rather take the sure SB's and bet against "players who call too much" than check and hope one bets, especially one in late position. There's very little to protect against on this board, and while a value checkraise isn't bad, it's certainly far from optimal when you don't know where the bet is coming from, or if one is even coming.

I'm very curious why you think the Button is autobetting here nearly often enough to go for a checkraise. Was there something in the OP I missed?

Keep in mind that I did say I would bet here, but it would be on auto-pilot. But it seems like the pot is big enough that they have odds to call with bottom pair here. There are four of the call happy bastards in there. I don't see how you can say the board isn't threatening. Any overcard or heart is a threat on the turn. How big does the pot have to be to try for a check/raise here?
