Default racism

so a guest comes into my office this morning (i work in a casino/hotel), and he asks me why we have Kool & the Gang playing our property.

he says, "because they're really aren't THAT many african-american people who gamble in here anyway"...

he goes on to say, "no i'm not racist...if you had that woman who was married to rick fox come in here...i'd probably go and see her."

i literally sat there in a daze...i couldn't wait for this guy to get the hell out of my office. makes me amazed at how lucky i am to be surrounded by mostly decent, intelligent people...cause there are a ton out there who fall far below the bar.

That's just really weird rather than racist. It does make sense to have acts that appeal to customers, but the insinuation the K&G would only appeal to blacks is weird. I don't know who Rick Fox is. Does that make me racist?

"Because it's a kick ass group and you can GTFO if you don't like it, you uneducated bigot." And that, my friend, is how you run a hotel/casino.

Rick fox played for the Lakers. He's married to Vanessa Williams (supermodel/won Miss something like 10 years ago).

Being ignorant and being racist are very nearly the same thing. Tough call on which one this treasure was, and probably doesn't matter.

Whenever people say "no I'm not racist" before or after they say something about another race, they're usually racist.

I mentioned this the other day in a post, but my mom said this to me about being in San Francisco last weekend... "I don't have anything against gays, I just don't want to see them kissing in front of me" ...yeah, sure you don't.

He thinks Rick Fox is more famous than Vanessa Williams? That's more offensive than the racism.
