Default Watching Mussina Pwn

so I'm watching the yankee/angel game today and i have a few thoughts after the first inning.

after walking figgins, he made two consecutive pick off attempts. on the next pitch, figgins stole second.

later in the same inning, after garret anderson singled, mussina threw a pick off attempt to first at anderson.

anderson has stolen zero bases this year. is this lack of focus something that worries yankee fan?

i mean, i know it's the first inning, and I'm not trying to troll or be stupid...but it seems to me that these are just a couple small examples of why this team doesn't seem like the same old yankees.

which is actually good for those of us who root against them.

second inning he just threw THREE pick off's at izturis who isn't a runner either...6 sb's all year.

maybe i watch too much baseball and these type of things don't catch most people's interest.

Izturis hasn't been up that long this year. He's certainly a potential SB threat.

That being said, I never understand multiple pickoff attempts either.

good point about izturis - and to be fair - moose just pitched really well to get out of a two on/nobody out third inning. i suppose he was just working the kinks out earlier.

There is a correlation between multiple pickoff attempts and a lowered SB%.

after a pickoff attempt as well - this game is entertaining the hell out of me.

moose has stepped it up though - i started this thread thinking he was in real trouble today.
