6-Max blinds play

Looking over my PT database, I've noticed that I'm making money out of the blinds (including "post" money) at 25 and 50NL 6-max, yet I'm losing huge amounts at 100NL out of those same SB and BB.

My stats for blinds are a little different between the winning and losing levels, but something else has to explain that magnificient gap.

How do you usually play/defend your blinds at 6-max, generally speaking ? Do you defend a lot from button/co raises ? Do you complete vs lone BB often ? Any other things appreciated...

I know this is a wide question, just looking for a bit of advice, anything really [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

Against the maniac LAGs that frequent the SSNL 6max tables I find myself defending with a lot of hands. I defend a ton from open SB raises, at least complete my SB almost every time, and defend liberally with decent cards from a CO/Button raise. This seems to work well for me, especially when I have my flop top-two luckbox up and running.

Interesting question. I was just pondering that this morning.

The honest truth is that right now I DON'T defend my blinds. My reasoning has been that the blind is quite small in relationship to my stack. It's also quite small in relationship to even an average size pot. More importantly in NL games, blind wars can get insanely expensive. So I've felt that the risk/reward ratio was too low.

That being said, I've been thinking lately that this may be a weakness, and I need to reconsider.

So I'd love some input.

i'm in the same position.. i play the 25nl 6max and i do not defend my blinds like i probably should.

any advice is more than welcome.

How big a sample was the 25/50NL db? EVERYONE loses out of the blinds long-term unless you are a post-flop guru. If you an win out out the BB, including posted money, that means you could play any two cards for one bb from any position and still show a profit. Did you win some massive pots out of the blinds? To me good blind defense is a matter of minimizing long-term losses not winning dough.

Yeah. I'd say that the difference probably has more to do with variance then anything. But, regardless, people are less susceptible to transparent re-steals at the 100 I've noticed. Maybe post some hands in the blinds?

I like to check raise this hand but I check raise a variety of hands from the blinds--from solid made ones to nice draws.

As you played it why not call turn--you've a bunch of outs, real and virtual?
