FTOP question:
You are on the turn and you know your opponent's down cards.
You have position on him and you have a pair that is the second best hand to your opponent pair. The board is coordinated to a straight. Your opponent bets, you have no odds to call. Do you try to raise him off his hand any percentage of the time?. Or do you muck 100% of the time?. How about if the board is coordinated to a straight and a flush?. |

Re: FTOP question:
Will he fold often enough?
The answer to my question and yours is the same. |

The FTOP assumes that if you knew his cards you would play "perfectly" against him, but this demonstrates that it's not true. In a situation where you are considering bluffing, knowing the opponent's cards still might not tell you whether you should bluff because with a medium-strength hand, you don't know what he'll do. I'd quote Abdul again, but that got someone upset last time. |

Re: FTOP question:
Vs an unknown, raise ~25% of the time... Never vs a calling station and 100% vs a really weak-tightie...
If the flush on the board is in spades, raise. If its another suit, fold. |

Re: FTOP question:
Your question neglects the size of the pot... which is very important. If you think he would fold a high enough percentage of the time given the size of the pot in relation to the size of you raise to make it profitable... you would try it. If you didn't, you would fold, or maybe you would call and try to improve if the pot was enormous....but you said we didn't have odds. Also, the bigger the pot, the less likely he is to fold assuming he understands the price to calldown and that you could be bluffing some percentage of the time.
