This is clearly a matter of preference so the "right/wrong" thing doesn't apply and I even prefaced my opinion by stating that I am quite certain most people don't agree with me.

Yes, I know people like the look of "action" -- why shouldn't we all have 50 racks of white when we sit down to $50-$100? Then you can bet a rack ... I'd raise a rack ... and pretty soon there are 50 racks in the middle of the table.

Action ahoy!

With the $20-$40 example, I know I would much prefer to have access to $10 chips than the situation now at Foxwoods where it's all in $5's.

4 chip/8 chip isn't unwieldy. Your example is.

Have you played a 4-chip/8-chip structure?

Yes, but not at the mid limits.

Are you raising a rack to have the proper odds to draw on the turn?

If so, I would 3-Rack you.

Who would do that?

And it would be a rack on the turn and the river -- half-rack on the flop; or a rack to make that initial raise and then a three-bet would be 1.5 racks and a cap would be 2 racks.

You don't consider the 20-40 game played with $5 chips to be a 4-chip / 8-chip structure? Isn't that what's meant by it that it would be 4-chips pre-flop and on the flop and 8 on the turn and river...?
