I'm actually more interested in modding my PS2 than an Xbox - but thanks a lot for the links - I'm learning a lot

I'm just kind of confused as to how you get emulators onto the certain systems

I can't imagine spending 300 on an XBOX right now with the next gen stuff coming in the near future.

I have no experience with ps2 hacking. I hacked my xbox and installed a hacked dashboard (evolution X). It has an ftp server built in. You can do everything you need through teh ftp.

The guides and walkthroughs at xbox-scene are invaluable. I can't provide any advice on ps2 hacking. Obviously, you have more options from the get-go on xbox because of the harddrive.

The best thing to do for the ps2 is get this and this
http://www.baysoftgames.com/hdloader.html
and change the top to this
http://www.baysoftgames.com/ps2flipcov.html

Then you can add any games u want to a disc and your ps2 will read it.

My roomate had an Xbox that was modified to have about 40 xbox games, and you could also play every NES/SNES/Sega/Sega Genesis game ever made. It was awesome. He bought it on ebay from a guy that lived close to us. You could also connect it to your router and ftp new xbox games to it, and play movies on your tv from your computer. He had to move, and I plan on buying the same system soon.

I think your best bet would be to look on ebay, and email sellers to make sure the system will come with everything you want before buying.
