Re: Is Ben Roethlisberger the most overrated QB in the league?
I agree Jack. Though I thought Brady was more Montana than Chad, people really do forget quickly....
I'm not really sure Roeth is overrated but I have no idea how high people rank him, and I don't care that much either. What I do know is that he's not nearly as good as he will be. He's very, very young, but the skills are obv there. What so surprising is how well he moves and how well he throws on the move for a guy his size. |

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah, everyone considers Roeth a system QB with all the tools, but he's really the most valuable qb per play in terms of production (something ridiculous like 10+ yards per ATTEMPT). |

Re: Is Ben Roethlisberger the most overrated QB in the league?
Can you please tell me what a SYSTEM QB is?
I've heard this term to descirbe players as diverse as Brady and Dilfer. MOst people use it disparagingly, as in, Oh, he's just a good fit for the system. But I don't see how eevry QB isn't a system qb and I don't see how every head coach in the league doesn't try to put a system in place to maximize the skills of his players... |

[/ QUOTE ] That's more or less exactly my response to everything. To me, what they usually mean is they're talking about a guy who's a roughly average qb thrown out there to "not lose games." - IE, Brady before last year never really produced a whole lot of numbers until 2004. Usually refers to a soft-spoken white guy that doesn't throw for 300 yards/game. |

Is that the reason you cling to your misguided opinion of Roethlisberger? Because he's not a gunslinger that's entrusted to throw the ball 45 times a game? You'd prefer say, Josh McCown? |

[/ QUOTE ] Let me get some things straight. I do not think Ben Roethlisberger is a bad QB-quite the opposite, I feel he is a very good quarterback. I think that he recieves way too much credit, and that is why I feel he is overrated. I do not think that throwing the ball downfield 40+ times a game, week in and week out, is the key to being a succesful NFL quarterback. I was merely making a joke about him attempting 11 passes in week one. For better or worse, he threw only 11 passes. |

And he threw for 218 yards and 2 touchdowns, with a 158.3 QB rating, in a 34-7 win.

But honestly, what is more impressive, attempting 35 passes and having a perfect rating, or throwing 11 passes with the same rating? |
