zen and the art of poker
i was reading a book that talks about using your current luck during a session, in your decision proces. Meaning, if you have been getting the right odds to for your last 6 draws but have missed .... that the 7th time you are in the situation .. you should let it go because your running cold or down on your "luck" .... i feel like this flies in the face of what most writers suggest...id like to here some opinions on this...

Re: zen and the art of poker
One of my most favorite things to look forward
to when I travel the 120 miles to Foxwoods is the chicken fingers! I always ask for the sweet and sour sauce too...and I know they have a button or code for it because it worked once before. I invariably get ranch. Most of the time I can exchange it for the sweet and sour, but sometimes the ranch is there for a reason...they are OUT of sweet and sour sauce! It kinda actually ruins the session... -ZEN |

Re: zen and the art of poker
Like much of that book, I don't think that advice should be taken too literally (and the author basically says that in another book of his -- The Tao of Poker).
What I think it really means is that when you have had a bad run there is a reasonable chance that: 1. Your table image is that of a losing player and others will be less likely to fold to your bets. 2. You may be on tilt and not playing your best poker. Therefore, playing tighter will take advantage of players not folding to your bets and minimize the damage you do to yourself if you are on tilt. That said, if you are sure that you have the right odds to call with your draw, you should call. |

Re: zen and the art of poker
Yes, that is correct. Another important concept is to know whats hot. So if sevens hit the flop three times in a row, then you should definitely play the next hand if you have a seven, cause there's a greater than usual chance you'll make a pair.
Also, you should always play your rush. If you win 3 pots in a row, you should play every hand until you lose one. I have won monster cash playing with this secret strategy. |
