I've seen this type of criticism before. I believe that people who have difficulty with math or do not have experience exerting a lot of mental effort into a problem have an initial reaction of putting down such problems. It's a defense mechanism against otherwise saying that they can't/aren't able to tackle such a problem. Combine that with a person who loves to hear himself talk, and you have the criticism you got.

Specific hand posts get you thinking about a specific situation that comes up in poker. These hypothetical posts make you look at the big picture: e.g. what a hand is worth face-up or how much a game is worth when everyone else is face up, etc. These general concepts can potentially apply to many situations. Also, like you said, they require you to use tools that are applicable on a smaller scale during normal poker play (calculating EV, implied odds).
I really enjoy your posts and would be upset if you took this criticism seriously and stopped posting.

I think it must be closer to -$180/hr than $0/hr. I'm pretty sure the kings are worth more than $1000/hr, though.

JJ is a loser. QQ is probably close to breakeven, and I don't know which side of breakeven it would be.

I dont think JJ is a loser, so long as you fold it most of the time (and only raise it lp w/ no1 in before you)

Just a side note...

If you always mucked JJ you would lose $180 an hour, so JJ must be worth at least -$180.

That's about right I think. I was wondering if everyone would overlook the folding option.
