Default Actual rake paid vs. vpip vs. limit

The PT stat that makes me the saddest is the one on the far right of on the general stats tab - "total rake", the sum of the amount raked from all the pots i've won.

For the 37k 5-10 6max hands I've got logged in PT, I've paid 1.65BB/100 (and since my winrate is a less than stellar 2.04BB/100, the rake has eaten 45% of my profits).

Now, it's obvious that a greater portion of the rake is payed by players who are looser preflop, I'm just curious as to how much. I don't have enough hands against anyone with a high vpip to get an accurate number, and thought you guys who are reasonably loose might contribute some data to help me assess the "rake penalty" of increasing vpip.

My data: vpip 19.8%, rake 1.65BB/100

Really, I'm curious as to how much the rake contributes to making it impossible to win long-term with an excessive vpip, and by how much increasing vpip in a rake-free environment (eg home game) is advisable.

Oh yeah, I'm also curious as to how limit affects the actual rake, although just comparing rate % of pot at various limits probably gives a good estimate.

I just took a look at it today. I think I worked out that I was paying something like 3 BB/100 in rake at the 1/2 games, which is about equal to my win rate.

My VPIP is about 20, PFR around 13? Something like that.

Just be aware that PokerTracker quotes this statistic as a percentage of pots that are raked. You need to do some extra work to factor in the pots that don't flop or are too small to rake.

I pay 1.75/100 at 5/10, 6max (VP$IP 21), winning 3BB.

I looked at 4 different guys who have played 500-600 hands and have a VP$IP around or above 50% and they are paying between 2.8-3.2BB/100 hands. They win much more $ then me.

If you are playing at Party Poker the rake is less BB/100 at higher limits. Look at there charts.
